देवस्तुतिः Deva Stutiḥ

Hymn of the Devas

**The Devas said:**

Victory, victory to You, O God of gods, O Supreme One! Your lotus feet are eternally served by all Suras, Asuras, Siddhas, Vidyādharas, Kinnaras, and Gandharvas. You are the controller of all deities, including Brahmā and Rudra, and the sovereign Lord of countless universes. O primordial cause of the world's creation, sustenance, and dissolution, Your very essence is all-knowing, all-powerful, the fount of all existence, all-pervading, the ultimate controller, the supreme Lord, the witness to all, the indweller of all, the form of all, the soul of all, the master of all, the support of all, and the refuge of all. You are the director of both Prakṛti and Puruṣa, O Puruṣottama, O Para Vāsudeva, the One knowable through all the Upanishads, the very form of the Supreme Brahman. Be victorious! Salutations, salutations to You. (v.1)

Victory, victory to You, O One without attributes, without form, without blemish, utterly pure, unhindered, and self-sufficient! Your form is self-luminous, the very standard of proof, and the witness to all proofs. You are unlimited, immeasurable, indivisible, without beginning or end, a very mass of consciousness and light. By the sheer splendor of Your own form, the darkness of the heart is dispelled, revealing a body that is a mass of pure consciousness. O Lord of Yogis, You reside in the Turiya state, transcending waking, dreaming, and deep sleep. You are the independent Lord of the empire beyond the seven cosmic coverings, the Lord of the great Mahāvaikuṇṭha. Be victorious! Salutations, salutations to You. (v.2)

Victory, victory to You, O One whose many pleasing and beautiful forms are made manifest to Your devotees! Your lotus feet are the cherished resort for surrendered souls, like swarms of bees drawn to nectar. You are adorned in a divine yellow garment, girded with a jeweled belt, and wear sweetly jingling jeweled anklets. Your form is further graced by desirable golden ornaments such as a waist-chain, necklaces, bracelets, the resplendent Kaustubha gem, and earrings. Your broad chest is marked with the auspicious Śrīvatsa, and You hold the conch, discus, and mace. You are immensely generous in granting fearlessness to all who seek Your refuge. Your fish-shaped earrings dangle charmingly at the ends of Your curly locks, and Your face is as beautiful as a lotus. O beloved of Kamalā [Lakshmi], Your compassionate side-glances eloquently convey Your favor towards devotees, and Your speech is sweet, accompanied by a gentle smile. Your head is adorned with a jeweled crown. Though distant to the arrogant, You are a wish-fulfilling Mandara tree to Your devotees. Be victorious! Salutations, salutations to You. (v.3)

Victory, victory! O One who, in the form of a Fish (Matsya), playfully protected all the Vedas amidst the waters of the cosmic deluge, and who is honored by all the gods! O One who, as a Tortoise (Kūrma), brought about the welfare of all worlds, even falling asleep from the delightful scratching of the Mandara mountain's peak upon Your back! O One who, as a beautiful Boar (Varāha), was skilled in lifting the entire earth along with its seven oceans and seven mountains! O One who, as the great Man-Lion (Narasiṃha), let out a mighty roar while tearing apart the head of the intoxicated great Asura-elephant, Hiranyakaśipu! O One who, as Trivikrama, conquered the three worlds with the stride of Your foot, from which the Gaṅgā, like a tied flag, was born, making Your own foot a victory pillar! O One who, as Bhārgava (Paraśurāma), protected virtuous kings like Daśaratha and Janaka, sparing them from Your axe! O One who, as Śrī Rāma, the jewel-lamp of the solar dynasty, roamed the Daṇḍakāraṇya forest, holding the Koḍaṇḍa bow and making the hordes of night-wanderers (Rakṣasas) Your target, with arms as long as an elephant's trunk! O One who, as Balabhadra, wielded the plough! O One who, as the beautiful Śyāma (Kṛṣṇa), performed the Rāsa dance, encircled by the multitude of beautiful Gopīs captivated by the love expressed in Your graceful movements, playful charm, lovely smile, and affectionate glances! O One who, as Kalki, will scatter the entire host of wicked people with the play of Your exceedingly terrible sword! O original source, the cause of all incarnations! O One who resides in the Śrīraṅga Vimāna! O Padmanābha! Be victorious! Salutations, salutations to You. (v.4)

Victory, victory, O Lord, who has assumed the non-material, divine, and auspicious Archa-avatāra [iconic manifestation in a temple] out of immeasurable and motiveless grace! You are served with royal honors like the umbrella and chowrie by Your own attendant retinue. Your glory is sung by supreme devotees like Prahlāda. You have taken a vow to protect surrendered souls, always overlooking their thousands of offenses. You are affectionate to Your devotees, and You have descended to uplift all beings submerged in the ocean of Saṃsāra. O refuge of all! Your auspicious form indicates abundant grace through the beauty of Your face, moist with a gentle smile. O Madhusūdana, Mādhava, Keśava, Nārāyaṇa, Puruṣottama, Vāsudeva, Janārdana, Jagannātha, Śrīdhara, Sukumāra, Dāmodara, Śrī Kṛṣṇa! Be victorious! Salutations, salutations to You. (v.5)

O Master, O Lord of all worlds, O One with a divine and auspicious form! Always bestow auspiciousness upon those who have surrendered to You and upon Your devotees. (v.6)

Thus ends, "Hymn of the Devas", the fifth Chapter, in the Fourth Part, in the Divya Deśa Vaibhavam, composed by Śrī Kṛṣṇapremi Mahāprabhu.
